The FA Charter Standard Clubs program, supported by FA Community Partner McDonald's, was launched in February 2001 and is a core component of The FA Football Development program. The project is aimed at boys and girls under sixteen years old and will help children and parents find a club in their local area that meets FA standards.

Criteria
|
|
|
|
|
- The FA, in conjunction with various bodies, has drawn up the following set of criteria for clubs wishing to reach Charter Standard:
- A written constitution
- Self-certified screening of managers, coaches and officials
- All managers to have minimum of FA Junior Team Managers Award
- Commitment to attend in-service training
- Acceptance and promotion of Codes of Conduct
- Commitment to provide Mini-Soccer opportunities for Under 10's
- Commitment to promote schools liaison and equal opportunities for all

Respect the Ref |
GGNP FC is a major supporter of the FA's 'Respect the Ref' campaign. GGNP FC fully encourages everyone to play their part in ensuring Referees are able to do their job without fear of intimidation. GGNP FC have introduced 4 key areas of education to all staff, parents, volunteers and players in line with the principals of The FA's.

Code of Conduct |

1 GGNP FC CODE OF CONDUCT FOR:

Players have obligations towards the game and should:
-
Abide by the instructions of their Managers/Coaches or Team Officials, provided they due not contradict the spirit of this code
-
Make efforts to develop their own abilities in term of skill, technique, fitness and stamina
-
Give maximum effort, striving for the best performance, dispute his teams position or desire result already achieved
-
Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporter
-
Avoid all forms of gamesmanship / time wasting
-
Always have the best interest of the game at decisions including public statements, and opinions of the game or people involved in the game
-
Adopt fair play and incorporate the laws of the game to help his/her own team win
-
Resist any influence which might question his/her commitment to the team
-
Know and abide by the laws of the game and the spirit of the game along with the competition rules
-
Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, equally
-
Resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned techniques
-
Treat opponents with respect at all times irrespective of the result of the game
-
Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play, and help injured opponents
-
Accept the decision of the Match Officials, show due respect, avoiding protest, words or actions that may mislead a Match Officials

Show due respect towards the Team Officials of the opposition

Show due respect to the interest of Supporters

2. Coaches must:
- Respect the rights, dignity of each and every person and treat each equally within the context of the sport
- Place the well being and safety of each payer above all other consideration, including the development of performance
- Adhere to all guidelines laid down by governing bodies or exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward
- Develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect
- Encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behavior
- Ensure that the activities that are advocated are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of players
- Clarify with the players (Parents in some cases) exactly what is expected of them - explain what they are entitled to expect back from their coach
- Co-operate with all other specialist (Doctors, physiotherapists, officials etc) in the best interest of the player
- Promote positive aspects of the game, fair play, and never condone violations of the Laws of the Game, behavior contrary to the spirit of the Laws of the Game or relevant rules and regulations or the use of prohibited substances or techniques
- Display high standards of behavior and appearance

3 Team Officials:
- In addition to all the key principals listed in this document :
- Promote and develop his own team by sharing knowledge on technical/tactical levels, taking into consideration the best interests of the club

4 Parents and Spectators must positively influence children by encouraging:
- Children to enjoy football, built their self –esteem and sense of personal achievement , acknowledging improvement in the Child's skills and techniques, give attention to each child involved in football and not just the most talented Applauding the opposition as well as your team Refrain from shouting and screaming or coaching the child during the game
- Respect the referees decision as your view will have a bearing on how your Child's attitude is towards all Officials
- GGNP FC will not tolerate inappropriate language by any of its members

Child Protection |
|
1 GGNP FC acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of every child and young person who is entrusted to its care and is committed to working to provide a safe environment for all members. GGNP FC supports and endorses the key principals of The F ootball A ssociation Child Protection and best practice policy, and procedures as listed:

2. Working in partnership with other organisations and young people and their parents and careers
- The Child's welfare is, and must always be, the paramount consideration
- All children and young people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, disability, culture, language, race origin, religious beliefs or sexual orientation
- All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately
- GGNP FC is proud to be associated with ‘Kick Racism Out Of Football' awareness campaign. If you hear racial abuse in any football environment report it to the club officials or call KIO - 0800 1699 414

3. GGNP FC acknowledges that it is the responsibility of every adult involved in our club to provide a safe and enjoyable environment, with protection from poor practice and abuse when a child or young person plays or participates in football. GGNP FC also acknowledges that it have a role to play in safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying. It is noted and that The FA Child Protection regulation applies to everyone in football – Paid or voluntary capacity. This includes volunteers, match officials, club officials, football coaches, medical staff or helpers on club tours

4. GGNP FC endorses and adopts The FA Child Protection and best practice guidelines for recruiting Managers or Coaches for youth teams and will:
- Request identification documents
- As a minimum meet and chat with applicant before appointing
- Make sure the applicant is at least FA level One certificated (Inc Child Protection Workshop)
- Require an FA CRB Unit Enhanced Disclosure
All current GGNP FC Managers/Coaches with direct access to children and young people will be required to complete a CRB Enhanced Disclosure via The FA CRB Unit. If there are any concerns with applicants or current members the GGNP FC Child Welfare Officer will seek guidance from the FA. GGNP FC will make the final decision with any recommendations made by the FA in the best interest of children and young people. GGNP FC supports The FA aim to prevent people with a history of relevant or significant offending, having contact with children or young people |

5. GGNP FC supports and encourages The FA whistle blowing policy. Any adult or young person with concerns about a colleague can 'Whistle Blow' by contacting The FA Child Protection Manager on 0207 745 4771, by writing to The FA Case Manager at The FA, 25 Soho Square, London W1D 4FA or by going directly to the Police, social services or NSPCC

6. GGNP FC has appointed a Club Welfare Officer (CWO) in line with The FA guidelines on child protect and the best practice workshop. The CWO will be involved with the designated persons training, provided by The FA. The CWO is the first point of contact for all club members, parents or guardians regarding concerns for the welfare of any child or young person. The CWO will play a proactive role in awareness of child protection within the club.

7. GGNP FC acknowledges The FA identification of bullying as a category of abuse. Bullying of any kind is not accepted in any form by GGNP FC. If bullying does occurs, all players, members, parents or guardians must inform the CWO Officer, all incidents will be dealt with promptly and confidentially

8. GGNP FC has code of conduct for players, club officials, parents and spectators. Any breach of these codes of conduct, will be dealt with by the GGNP FC committee members in the best interest of the club.
